How can I build my brand on LinkedIn (without being annoying)?
Our Senior Consultant Tara is featured in PR Week’s ‘Ask the Experts’ Column, offering her take on how to build a LinkedIn presence that lands:
“There’s no single ‘right’ way to build a personal brand on LinkedIn: the key is doing it in a way that feels authentic to you. I see so many posts that scream “written by AI” (hello, em dash!), which are full of meaningless corporate jargon and phrases that you’d never use in real life. Your voice is going to be what resonates, and it gives people an idea of who you are.”
She shared four core principles that help take a public profile from good to great:
Avoid over-promotion: Mix up your content with insights, inspiration and stories to build stronger connections.
Engage, don’t just broadcast: Interact with the people you want to reach.
Use visuals: Posts with photos (ideally of people) and video tend to perform better.
Be intentional: Consistency beats frequency, and helps create momentum.
