DJ Tim Westwood Review
THE RESULTS
The coverage across both bursts was widespread, with 62 pieces secured including: BBC News, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, Metro, Complex, Rolling Stone, and The Voice,
BRIEF
Blackstone Chambers, the independent review body tasked with reviewing the BBC’s response to concerns about former BBC DJ Tim Westwood’s conduct, approached Coldr to provide strategic media relations support for the launch of a new phone line calling for Black women to come forward and give evidence.
APPROACH
Our primary objective was to ensure that this sensitive story was communicated in the right way to reach the relevant communities, at the right time. As such, we delivered a targeted two-pronged media outreach campaign, beginning with an initial burst to drive awareness, which we followed up with a second round of outreach a week before the line closed. Throughout, we worked closely with the BBC press office, Gemma White KC and Jahnine Davis who acted as our spokespeople.
AND WHAT’S MORE
Our media strategy was highly impactful and drove much more than column inches. It also generated a significant buzz on social media and an increased amount of calls to the dedicated phone line and ensured awareness amongst Black women that there was an opportunity for their voices to be heard.
We think BIG
