THE RESULTS

The government released a statement to commit to action to be taken, as well as Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan joining the movement and sharing his support by letter with the team. As well as achieving widespread UK national, UK broadcast and global online coverage including ITV and Channel 4, it was essential to achieve coverage in underrepresented and Black media. With pieces landing JamaicansKeep the Faith and The Voice.

Our partnership

Actor and campaigner Colin Mcfarlane approached Coldr to help launch the movement ‘Justice4Windrush’ aimed at driving awareness for the Windrush scandal and creating a following for the movement - ultimately calling for swift and full government compensation for the victims.

Our approach

Colin, alongside other high profile celebrities including Annie Lennox, Craig David, AJ Tracey and Hannah Waddingham (to name a few), joined forces with members and descendants of the Windrush generation to create a short film to the re-recording of ‘Why’ by Annie Lennox.

The film draws attention to each of the victims stories, educates on the Windrush scandal and calls for the public to sign an open letter (signed by each of the celebrities), demanding swift action and compensation from the government. The open letter was shared with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and leader of the Labour Party, Sir Kier Starmer.

As well as taking a consultative approach to supporting the campaign in the planning and activation stages, as a social first led campaign, our brief was to craft the social strategy and build out channels. This involved plotting out in detail the logistics for growing the Justice4Windrush instagram following, and leading the charge on the roll out of celebrity endorsement posts, sharing stories ahead of hero campaign launch, as well as sharing educational posts from Victims.
